Message from Thijs Smits
Jan 15th 2011 - Having organized various succesfull Jackson Events throughout the past 10 years, results not only in a large business network in the field of event organisation. It also inevitably causes people to automatically relate my name to almost any MJJ-related event in The Netherlands. So to everybodywho is abusing our good name, and is desperately trying to fill the gap EJE created by discontinuing its activitiets: please keep your promisses and pay your bills. I'm sick of phonecall from unhappy visitors and creditors.

Sunflowers for Michael project: the totals!

The curtain has fallen...

Since 2001 the European Jackson Event (“EJE”) has been committed to organizing events for Michael Jackson (“MJ”) fans. Starting out as a way to create some positivity in times of adversity. Not for profits, but just a couple of fans trying to give something back to the man who has given so much to us and the world. Soldiers of Love that believe in MJ and the things he stood for.

The past weeks EJE has been investigating the possibilities for a spectacular 10 year anniversary show in 2011. We really wanted it to be the best event we’ve ever created. Not some kid who’s been practicing MJ moves in front of the television, but the real stuff. The best of the best performing for at least 500 people on a magnificent stage. Unfortunately this has become too expensive.

Ever since MJ has passed away, the name “Michael Jackson” has become an equivalent for money. In our early years performers (even the good ones) were happy with just the opportunity to perform at our events. A small amount of money to cover the costs was all they asked for. This all changed drastically on the 25th of June 2009, when MJ’s passing made him once again popular. And if demand exceeds supply, the prices go up. Way up.

The same performers now cost thousands of Euros. Although we understand this from a business perspective, this is not something we’re comfortable with. Even if we could find sponsors to come up with large amounts of money, that’s not the way we think it should be. Therefore we have decided to put all EJE activities on hold till further notice. We’re not a commercial company looking for big profits, but we’re fans trying to keep the legend alive because it feels like the right thing to do. If this spirit ever returns, we’ll return.

With L.O.V.E.
